I am very pleased (and relieved) to announced the long awaited Oakland Center resectorization has been finished and published. It is now effective, but I am sure there will be minor modifications over time. A big thank you goes out to the ZOA staff and their hard work on this project, as well as our various RW members who have generously allowed us to pick their brains.
There is a new ZOA SOP available in PDF format. You can download it if you wish, however the published version on the site is always the controlling document. The table of contents does link to the section of the document, so simply click on the section title and it will jump to it. I highly suggest you read the entire SOP if you are already center certified. Dominic is always available for help if you need it as well.
In addition to a new SOP there are new LOA’s for ZOA-NCT, ZLA, ZLA-SBA (this one is new-new), ZSE, and ZLC. Everything has been rewritten so it is important you read the entire document.
Last, but not least, the NCT SOP also got a small update. It is in the same PDF format as the ZOA SOP, and has been updated to removed references to the now decommissioned ECA VOR, among a few other small items. It’s a small update, but worth checking out.
If you have questions or suggestions please email the ZOA staff using the contact page.
After months of hard work I’m happy to announce that we’ve made some needed changes to the NorCal TRACON. In addition we have rebuilt the sector file to offer more features and more organization. The NCT SOP was rewritten from the ground up and formatted so that it is easier to read and find information within it. The Reno Complex SOP has been split, putting the Nugget and Silver information into the NCT SOP and the ATCT into it’s own SOP.
In depth details regarding the sector changes can be found on the forums. In a nut shell, not much has changed with the west flow sectors except for the addition of OAK_DEP. SFO_DEP has been renamed from Richmond to Sutro to reflect the real world name, and OAK_DEP is now called Richmond. The OAK_DEP sector was added in order to give OAK_APP or Area C controllers the ability to full control Oakland rather than confusing them when OAK_APP is online but not providing departure or local services to them. A few other minor changes have taken place that help with some of the operational conflicts that were introduced with the new RNAV arrivals.
The east flow sectors are where most of the changes have occurred. The previous sectorization was very bulky, had confusing operations, and wasn’t very efficient. We have redrawn almost all of the east flow sectors and believe that it will make east flow a little less intimidating and confusing. More details regarding sectorization can be found in the forums.
The sector file was rebuilt with organization and ease of use in mind. Everything has been organized in a way that makes sense and is easy to find. We really hope that you enjoy the sector file and if you have any suggestions we want to hear them! The sector file is available for download in the downloads section – it includes major sectors changes so everybody needs to update their sector file!
The sector file for AIRAC 1513 has been uploaded to the site. Along with an AIRAC update it includes a fix for the incorrect sector maps being included in the last file.
Sector File Changes
– AIRAC Update
– Sector Maps corrected
I have uploaded a new Sector file for AIRAC 1512, as well as an updated POF file (v6.5), and an Alias file (v3.2). In addition, I have also uploaded an AIRAC update for those of you that use vSTARS! You can get these on the downloads page of the website.
Sector File Changes
– Updated AIRAC
– Added OAK_42_CTR position
